Backlist Titles v. New Releases

Backlist Titles v. New Releases

Backlist v New Releases.jpg

Do you prefer to read new releases or books from authors’ backlists? I go through phases where I enjoy new releases, but for the most part, I try to read mostly backlist books. But it seems like the majority of readers I follow on Instagram or Goodreads stick to new releases. I know that part of that is because publishers reach out to #bookstagram to help promote new releases, but it still seems like they are only reading new releases.

There are so many great books from authors’ backlists, classics I’ve been meaning to read for years, and books that I just missed when they did in fact get published. I have been making my way through Joshilyn Jackson’s backlist and plan to read through Ann Patchett’s books. Also, I just recently bought War and Peace, so I’ll try and tackle that one soon! But I am also always looking forward to new releases, like Penny Reid’s new books coming out later this year and Amy Reichert's newest novel, The Optimist's Guide to Letting Go!

What are some of the backlist titles that you love? What new releases are you looking forward to?
